Job Description:

My client is looking for two Storage Engineer I.  You must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Government Clearance.  We are unable to sponsor H1b candidates at this time.

The Storage Engineer I will have current knowledge of FC, iSCSI, CIFS, and NFS. Engineer will have knowledge of storage networks constructed both of 8Gb FC, and also of 10Gb Ethernet. Experience with Fiber Channel over Ethernet is preferred, but not required. Will possess experience with VMWare. Will possess experience with NetApp or Hitachi SAN’s in large multi-site environments. Engineer will possess a familiarity with geo-replication technologies and snapshot strategies, to include snapshot storage reservation and recovery. It’s desirable that the engineer will have experience with NetApp SnapVault and SnapMirror and be familiar with Thin-provisioning rewards and pitfalls. Engineer will document and socialize storage design and information assurance design considerations to a change-management team. Engineer will possess a CISSP certification.

DUTIES:

  1. Performs systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of applications that require comprehensive knowledge and technical skills.
  2. Supports capacity planning and performance analysis of computer systems.
  3. Supports the determination of current levels of system and application resource utilization and performance.
  4. Supports analytical modeling to describe utilization and performance at multiple levels of granularity.
  5. Supports resource chargeback rate-setting activities.
  6. Analyzes the impact of new technologies on processor and peripheral utilization and performance.
  7. Supports workload sizing for new and existing applications.
  8. Supports the implementation of hardware and software upgrades.
  9. Supports the construction of capacity plans.
  10. Utilizes systems that analyze and report levels of utilization and performance.
  11. Oversees storage of capacity and performance data.
  12. Installs, maintains, secures, and monitors day-to-day storage infrastructure, including storage provisioning, issue resolution and ensuring storage arrays and SAN devices are operational.
  13. Schedules, facilitates, and performs system maintenance, as necessary.
  14. Responds to alerts and events.
  15. Troubleshoots and resolves problems, escalate as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/CertificationsOne year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, information technology, systems engineering or a closely-related field. Masters Degree preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen with a SECRET clearance.

This position requires DoDI 8570.01-M IASAE Level I certification and corresponding Computing Environment certification such as: EMCIE; NetApp Certified SAN Implementation Engineer; SNIA; SCSE; MCITP Server Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Enterprise Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Virtualization Administrator Windows Server 2008 R2, MCSE Desktop Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Server Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Private Cloud 2012, VCAP 4, VCAP 5.

Experience:

5-8 years of technical program related experience in a government contracting environment and an advanced degree in engineering, science or related technical field. Comprehensive specialized experience in the management and oversight of technical over-arching inter-disciplinary project teams and programs.

Skills:

Familiar with knowledge of key solutions such as Data Sharing, Network Attached Storage (NAS), Disaster Recovery preparation, and integration of these capabilities with Cloud Computing and Cyber architectures. Ability to work with cluster file systems and other technologies to provide redundancy and availability for server farms and applications. Experience with administering Windows Operating Systems and Windows Operating Systems environment. Experience with storage network devices. Possess foundational knowledge of vendor-neutral storage networking concepts, technologies, and solutions. The Network Security/Information Assurance Engineer will be responsible for all activities relating to information assurance procedures and systems. Develops information systems assurance programs and control guidelines. Confer with and advise subordinates on administrative policies and procedures and resolving technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consult with and advise other sections regarding internal controls and security procedures. Prepare activity and progress reports relating to the information systems audit function.

DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for providing technical and operational engineering support to functional users within the ACE-IT AOR for managing, monitoring and maintaining situational awareness of the networks and systems. 
  2. Advise on technical and operational requirements to improve performance and quality of service for all networks and systems under the responsibility of the Data Center.  
  3. Conduct vulnerability assessments, and analyze and report identified network intrusion threats
  4. Research, document, and track to resolution all outages, trouble calls, virus outbreaks, and network intrusions
  5. Utilize the NOSC toolset to accurately analyze and report on the overall health of local deployed networks and to determine networks and systems security weaknesses and shortfalls
  6. Server operations to include Install, configure, optimize, and analyze system logs on Unix operating systems (Linux Solaris)
  7. Configure Cisco routers and switches to provide IP routing, policy routing, and access control lists (ACL) configuration
  8. Maintain advanced router access lists to limit access to and from specific routers on operational routers while maintaining normal WAN operations
  9. Provide detailed written documentation on troubleshooting steps, security issues, and findings applicable to incident response policies and procedures
  10. Provide technical briefings and advise to the Data Center Manager and Enterprise Operations Manager
  11. Train other contractors and government personnel on operations of systems and network security
  12. Recommend appropriate changes/resolutions in response to trend analysis information
  13. Examine network device and server systems logs and information gained from network sniffers or protocol analyzers to determine if possible outside or unauthorized access has occurred
  14. Organize and direct responses to internal network attacks or breaches of network security; follow those breaches to their source, report on how they occurred and recommend actions to ensure they are not a problem in the future. Create documentation to respond to internal attacks and breaches of network security
  15. Tracking and record possible intrusion or security breach from routine daily analysis
  16. Provide oral or written findings and explanation of events for any legal actions associated with security breaches
  17. Coordinate with the NOSC/IA to ensure latest know vulnerabilities are properly identified and corrected
  18. Perform other duties and assignments as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in analyzing and troubleshooting military networks to include the Microsoft Windows NT Server Operating System, Network router management and configuration, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft mail applications (local and remote), Firewalls, Switches, VPNs, and CRYPTO devices. Must be a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, or have equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical/electronics engineering, computer/software engineering, computer science, math, physics, or related scientific discipline from ABET; OR Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Technology, Engineering, or Engineering Technology; OR Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Novell Certified Network Engineer (NCNE).
