Our client has an immediate opening for Senior Software Engineer position in the Scottsdale, Arizona area.
Senior Software Engineer Job Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Software Engineer is primarily responsible for improving the capability, efficiency, and scalability of our java platform and applications, as well as leading/mentoring other team members in the development and launch of new features and services using web development best practices.
Lead the Software Development Engineers to complete applications correctly and assist with problems or technical issues that arise and to ensure applications are completed efficiently with in the required timeframe.
Architect technical solutions that address business needs.
Help define web development standards and process and mentor team members.
Develop code and configuration assets.
Review, test, and debug code prior to installation to ensure precision and proper interaction with other code.
Document code, application requirements, technical specifications and processes according to Web Development standards.
Maintain and manage code including revising code as needed to fix bugs and/or in response to requests for new features.
Collaborate with coworkers on design and implementation matters.
Attend all department meetings to collaborate regarding software designs, web development, troubleshooting, etc.
Assist coworkers with engineering issues, as needed.
Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Proficiency with Maven, Eclipse, IntelliJ (development); JUnit (testing) and DB2 (database) environments.
Knowledge of enterprise Server Side Java Software Development and Web Based Applications.
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Experience in writing scalable, supportable, maintainable and testable code.
Proficient analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
Code review skills and knowledge.
Excellent reading, verbal and written communication skills to effectively read and comprehend technical information and instructions, communicate and collaborate with coworkers and clients and document processes, etc.
Strong organization, time management, multi-tasking, self-initiative, sense of ownership and accountability.
Strong focus and attention to details to create high quality production code.
Must work well in a team environment and be able to give and receive constructive feedback.
Able and willing to work more than 40 hours a week including some evenings and weekends as required.
Comfortable using Linux/UNIX, JBoss, and Apache/Tomcat.
Understanding of all components and/or phases of software development and maintenance lifecycle.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
· Walk/move from place to place throughout building on a variety of surfaces including tile, wood and carpet.
· Sit/remain seated at a computer for up to 8 hours a day, usually 4 hours at a time.
· Bend, turn and twist repetitively.
· Reach forward, overhead and down below.
· Work indoors in a climate controlled environment.
· Use a PC with dual monitors, keyboard and mouse continuously on a daily basis.
· Close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
BS or BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or IT.
Minimum 10+ years of hands-on, full life-cycle Java software development work experience using Java programming language and including back end development, debugging code, testing and troubleshooting.
10+ years of J2EE Technologies including JSP/Servlets, EJB, JMS, JDBC, JMX, JMS Web Services/SOA, XML, XSL and SOAP work experience.
10+ years of web framework work experience, required; JSF and Struts 1 work experience, preferred; practical experience implementing MVC pattern.
10+ years of work experience with ORM and JDBC with DB2 preferred.
10+ years of work experience using Design by Contract, Bridge Pattern, Factory pattern and Dependency Injection (using Java EE or Spring).
Previous work experience with development methodologies including Waterfall, Scrum, Agile and/or test-driven development.
Experience with the Atlassian suite preferred.
